In all domestic abuse cases the complainer should have the right for the case or bail terms to be dropped if they do not wish it to be perused.
Domestic cases that go through court take all the power from the complainer and cause alarm and distress. Family's can be torn apart for five months or more due to strict bail terms until the case is taken through court.
It is not only the accused who is punished in these circumstances but also the complainer.
