Petition Oblige manufacturers to quote car fuel consumption in miles per litre.
More details
Fuel has been sold in litres for years now, so why not enforce the car companies to quote fuel consumption figures in miles per litre rather than miles per gallon?
That way the public will be able to work out what the cost of their mileage is directly, rather than having to do some approximate calculation - or not bother.
With the costs more obvious, folks may think again about taking the car, rather than other more environmental means of transport such as bicycles/walking/buses etc.
And the only change would need to be in new marketing material - manufacturers could still quote mpg if they wanted to.
