Closed Mersey Tunnel Tolls

The Mersey Tunnel tolls were created to pay for the building of the tunnels and to be abolished after construction costs were covered, but residents of Wirral & Liverpool are still paying higher and higher fees over 40 years later. We would like the government to either integrate the tunnels into the highways agency or reduce the cost of the tunnels (possibly free for local residents) as this is a drag on the growth of the local economy.
