Mandatory National Service should be re-introduced for UK citizens aged 16-21 for a period of 1-2 years. Conscripts should remain on a list of reserves for upto 4 years after service.
Long term unemployed citizens aged between 18 and 30 would also be eligible for service.
Benefits of re-introduction include skilled training and employment of the 'lost young generation', bolstering of armed services reserves, less expenditure on welfare and improved national pride/identity.
