If a vehicle has been continuously licensed (taxed) since its date of purchase then the tax and MOT expiry dates are likely to coincide closely.

It would help ensure that more vehicles have their first MOT and subsequent MOT tests on time.

This should not be costly and would help mitigate for the effect of recent changes:

a) The withdrawal of the MOT reminder text message service.

b) The change in format of the VT20 (MOT Test Pass Certificate), which no longer includes the peel off reminder sticker.
