Petition Babies should be delivered straight away, if meconium is present at the rupture of the membranes
More details
When/if a baby makes his/her first bowl movement before birth, a substance called meconium enters the membrane sack.
This is dangerous to both mother & child. The unborn baby can inhale the meconium, this blocks the airways & can cause death.
The Meconium can also cause deadly infections &/or blood poisoning & in some cases, meningitis to both mother and infant.
So, why are women left to labour on their own or are forced to wait for induction methods to kick in, when meconium is evidently present?
These infants should be brought immediately by emergency c section to avoid the risk of death.
