Petition DBS checks to be carried out on all Council members at ALL levels

All serving Council members, be it those working at town or county level, to be subject to DBS checks.
In light of a local town councillor being charged with historic sex offences against a child, and his having voted against his council instituting DBS checks for all members, we would like to see ALL Councillors subject to background checks.
These are people in a position of power who regularly come into contact with children and vulnerable adults, and as such should be checked for past instances of abuse or violence.
DBS checking should be mandatory.
