Provectus Remediation Ltd submitted their planning application for the Hilltop Opencast Mining Project on 03/10/2014 and it was validated and made public on 08/10/2014.

IN EXCESS OF 5000 PEOPLE LIVE WITHIN 1KM OF THIS PROPOSED OPEN CAST MINE SITE

OPEN CAST MINING WITHIN THIS PROXIMITY WILL HAVE SERIOUS NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON

AIR QUALITY, HEALTH, NOISE, FAMILIY LIFE, WILDLIFE, TRAFFIC, CHILDRENS SAFETY, LOCAL SCHOOLS AND BUSINESSES, NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS, LOCAL HOUSE PRICES

Whilst Wales and Scotland both have 500m buffer zones. There are currently no such exclusions in place in England.

Approximately three quarters of the proposed site boundary is adjacent to residential properties. The communities of Old Tupton, Holmgate, Clay Cross and Tupton all being within 1 kilometre of the site.
2228 properties within 1 km of the Hilltop site. (684 within 200m, 544 between 200m and 500m and in excess of 1000 between 500m and 1 km)
