Petition Parenting: Change law on domestic relocation
More details
There is an unfortunately a right that the "primary carer" can move anywhere in the UK and cannot be stopped except for in exceptional circumstances.
While this may be right for the primary carer to move home to a childhood home, near family for support for example, it should not be the case when it is for just lifestyle reasons.
The judges need more power in this area and should not be following the advice of "Butler-Sloss" who set the bar at "Exceptional circumstances".
In my case, the partner manipulated and lied to reduce contact with myself to help herself move near a new boyfriend of 2 months and 1 pair of friends, both of which were 3 hours further away from all family. At court, the judge said "the law is the law", which is incredibly unfortunate as my child was not put first.
This is not about "equal parenting" but the stopping of a primary carer being able to move away for no good reason
