The average cost of sending a child to full time nursery in the South East is £1200-£1500 per month, more than most mortgages. Private nurseries should be required to provide an annual statement of where the fees for your child have been spent. It is now provided by councils for council tax and is something that nurseries should do to enable parents to see where their money has gone and to see the way that any free nursery hours is calculated.
