With the recent discovery that the Beagle 2 spacecraft , contrary to asserttions from reports, in fact made a near perfect landing on the surface of Mars, and in recognition of his brilliance in inspiring young and old alike to take up science and engineering, it is the aim of this petition to request Her Majesty's Govt support the nomination of Professor Colin Pillinger for a posthumous knighthood for services to science and education.
