Closed petition Free prescriptions for renal transplant patients

Closed on

Renal transplantation is merely another form of treatment to prolong life the same as dialysis.

It is not a cure and therefore renal transplant patients still need lifelong medication to avoid rejection and failure of the transplanted graft.

The cost to the NHS of pre-transplant care has to be significantly more expensive then treatment and post care of a transplanted patient.

This petition is to change the way the Department of health assess transplanted patients’ ongoing treatment and to award free prescriptions in the same way as they do for diabetics and others with chronic illness.
