Petition Childhood Stroke Register

Childhood stroke is in the top ten causes of death of children in the UK - up to 500 children a year suffer a stroke, not all survive.The same number of children a year are diagnosed with solid organ cancer (brain tumor).There is a register that has been running for over 30 years for childhood cancer, which has been vital for research, diagnosis, treatment, aftercare and support. There is not a register for childhood strokes.This needs to change. To guarantee better treatment and save lives. It is necessary for the DOH to monitor how many children and babies are having stroke, the causes, long term outcomes and the aftercare the children receive.
