Rejected petition The electorate wants 3 televised debates before the General Election. With or without David Cameron
More details
Televised debates between leaders of political parties are a key way for the electorate to engage with the democratic process.
Broadcasters shouldn't be pressurised into running these in a way that suits one political party, or one political figure, more than another. That's not what the electorate wants, and isn't a way for a healthy democracy to function.
I want to see 3 televised debates prior to the General Election 2015, whether or not the PM or representative of the Conservative Party is present at any of them.

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
This is a matter for the media companies to decide, in consultation with the political parties.
