Rejected petition Tattoo age of consent to be lowered to 16.

More details

Under the 'tattooing of minors act of 1969' the current age of consent for a tattoo is 18. Personally I feel this is a little unreasonable, especially in consideration over the fact there is no age of consent for piercings. Due to the permanent nature of the tattoo I'd hope for parental consent to be required for under 18's, as no doubt they will have better judgement over the choice of tattoo, and the artist.

Thank you for reading.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

This is a matter for the Home Office, as the Department responsible for the relevant legislation. However, as Parliament has now dissolved, any future action on this issue will be a matter for the incoming Government.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
