Ban all defence and military expenditure

We no longer have an empire to defend and we no longer need defence: no-one will attack us if we treat others fairly. All we need is sufficient expenditure to support UN peacekeeping forces. The resulting savings will be both financial – over £30 billion a year – and human – no more unnecessary war deaths and injuries. The money saved will help social and economic development and the retention of our shrinking public services.
