25,000 children live with this condition, that is 1 in every 700 children.98.6% of children with the condition are type 1 (Insulin dependant)
Diabetes in children is on the rise,aprox 4% per year There is lack of funding for research, lack of funding into local Hospitals to provide Insulin pumps,which would enhance a childs life.There is lack of support for parents,with one DSN to ovER 50 parents,this is due to lack of funding.Schools must be educated in Diabetes care.More funding is needed to help raise awarness&enhance childrens lives across the country.For parents&children living with this condition,There is no day off,no hour,when it is not on our minds,we cope for our children, but we shall not allow Government to dictate how our childrens lives will map out.We call for debate in parliment on Care of Children suffering from Juvenile Diabetes.
