Closed petition CARERS ALLOWANCE TO BE INCREASED TO REFLECT THE WORK THAT CARERS DO

Closed on

The carers allowance is available to carers who care for someone in receipt of certain disability benefits, the allowance is set at £55 per week , but the claimant must prove that they "work" for a minimum of 35 hours per week , this is the lowest benefit payable , carers save the state over 80 billion pounds each and every year, in the future it has been propossed that carers who receive other benfits move onto the universal credit, along side job seekers yet the carer will have to work for their benefit .. the allowance should be at least doubled to reflect the work we do ..and let us remember IANIN DUNCAN SMITH in his own report broken britain said the carrews allowance should be doubled "
