Rejected petition give police better equipment/powers during riots

During the recent civil disturbances, the police have been under considerable strain from groups of rioters who have controlled the streets & destroyed homes & livelihoods. Police should have the power to use tear gas, water cannon, rubber bullets or any other equipment that can be be used to quell such destructive action during civil unrest to restore order.
We the people feel that this is an acceptable means of controlling such violence & restoring peace to all areas.
