Whilst UK Government is implementing cuts to all public expenditure, all overseas aid should be withdrawn so that vital services needed by the most vulnerable in the UK can be maintained at an acceptable level.

The UK has a long record of providing aid when it is most needed, but it has to be recognised that we are no longer able to sustain this aid without a strong domestic economy.

As members of the IMF, the EU and the United Nations Great Britain already makes a substantial contribution to these agencies. It is time that they fulfil this humanitarian need as global agencies.
