The recent riots show a breakdown in authority figures in the UK.
Enough with the current hands-off approach that teachers have to conform to, or risk dismissal.
We can find a healthy balance between the draconian laws of the 1920's and the Laissez-faire attitude in 2011.
Give teachers back the power to be more hands-on in their approach to educating, let the teachers be the authority figures that some children do not receive at home.
Teachers should also be given more support from their employers and governors of the school in cases of unfair practice.
I truly believe that with the re-introduction of a more hands-on approach to teaching, we can create an atmosphere in society where children respect authority.
