Closed Recognise kidney failure for the purposes of PIP and ESA.

Many kidney failure patients are being turned down for Personal Independence Payment as they do not easily fit into the regulations. They are also being put in the Work Related group when claiming Employment Support Allowance instead of the support group as they do not fit into a category easily.

The DWP do not recognise dialysis as treatment but think it is a cure which it is not. More awareness needs making of kidney failure and dialysis and its side effects so that employees of the DWP and PIP assessors understand the condition.
