Petition Change the law so food producers must state where animals were reared.
We need to change the law so food producers must state the country where the animal was born and reared and slaughtered and processed on packaging and loose meat.
A cow born and raised in Cornwall can be driven to Scotland, slaughtered and butchered and then legally be labelled as 'Scottish beef'.

With current legislation the wording is “goods shall be deemed to have been manufactured or produced in the country in which they last underwent a treatment or process resulting in a substantial change” meaning that slaughter or butchering is counted as "substantial change.
Animals are transported long distances so that more can be charged for the meat because of the providence on the label.
