Closed RAF Aircrews who flew from Italy should be awarded the Bomber Command Clasp .

I flew 35 sorties with 142 Squadron from bases in Southern Italy. We have been refused the Clasp because we did not fly from the UK. We attacked similar targets to crews from the UK, taking the same very high risks, near 50% killed, the highest combat fatality rate of all the armed services.

We flew Wellington Bombers - RAF NEWS June 28th;2012 -" Air Command -At the height of the conflict , the life expectancy for Bomber crews flying daily missions, in Lancaster and Wellington Bombers was lower than it was for troops on the killing fields of Northern France in the First World War."
