The Liverpool Care Pathway involves intentional removal of treatment and causing the death of patients (Daily Mail 30 Dec 2012 J. Groves). Despite controversy it is still running under many different names and has been shown to be of no clinical benefit while affecting all age groups.

The LCP uses Forced Starvation (Red Cross. Rule 53) and Dehydration (Royal Society Medicine 16 Jan 2015) and is cruel, painful and unacceptable (Prof P Pullicino). Historically it has been immoral to end life prematurely, especially without consent.

A public inquiry into the historic deaths caused by LCP is needed. The immediate suspension of its continuing use pending the results of an inquiry with the power to establish criminal responsibility and conspiracy to cover up evidence.
