Closed Make Portable Appliance Testing Law to all Business owners and Landlords

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is currently advised in the UK and covered by The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 where it puts the duty of care upon both the employer and the employee to ensure the safety of all persons using the work premises. This includes the self employed but is too ambiguous

Stats according to the Electrical Safety First Council:
•People receiving a mains voltage electric shock per year : 2.5 million
•Of whom received a serious injury: 350,000
Which? reported 12,000 fires are caused over a 3 year period by faulty or non complying imported electrical appliances. The appliances are a cheap design, produced abroad and being brought into the UK at a fraction of the official cost. If PAT testing was regulated by law we can reduce fires and deaths in the UK every day !
