As many know, the UK passed a new legislation charging 5p for plastic bags. Undoubtedly, the effects of this will be absolutlely phenomenal on both the environment and economy. However, in terms of practicality...

there should be the option to carry goods in a less harmful to the economy and environment substitute; such as brown bags. Customers wishing to carry heavier items can pay for stronger bags.
