Police Scotland and Scottish Fire & Rescue Service pay around £33million of VAT per year. Money which could be better spent making Scotland a safer place. Prior to amalgamation individual Police Forces & Fire Services did not pay VAT. Similar services in England & Wales do not pay VAT.
