Closed petition Put an end to the Cayman Island's tax haven status
Closed on
Currently it is legal for businesses in the UK to divert their profits to the Cayman Islands and as a result do not have to pay tax on these profits. This costs the British public £20 billion per year, the same amount that the government are cutting from public services over the next 4 years.
"Its been estimated that legal tax avoidance keeps 20 billion pounds out of the UK treasury every year. That's exactly the same amount being cut by government departments, delivering services to us in the next 4 years" http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06wrt2d/britains-trillion-pound-island-inside-cayman
