Closed petition Stop the violations of the British national‘s human rights abroad
Closed on
The UK Government refuses to support British nationals abroad, even in case of fundamental violations of human rights, when the British national has evidence of a denial of justice. Although in 1999 the Parliament has set out Government policy on this issue (Hansard 16 December 1999, Column 254W).
The UK Government ignores Parliament's decision and this endangers the safety of British nationals abroad.
The existing mechanism of protection of British nationals abroad needs some improvements, because millions of Britons every year travel abroad for tourism, business and humanitarian purposes and some of them at any time may become victims of fundamental violations of human rights.
The UK Government must support British nationals in such situations.
