Rejected petition Place expiration dates on TV adverts. No advert airs longer than 18 months!

Some adverts have been played in unlimited blocks for years and years.

When you have an advert air between all your programs on all channels for 5+ years, you see that corporate message thousands of times.

How does this effect public mental health? Is this tantamount to brainwashing?

More details

Mars Inc are horrific offenders for this. Audrey Hepburn has been selling Galaxy since 2013. The Maltesers girls since 2006!

It can't be unreasonable to say if some Ad airs on UK TV, it can't be aired again after 18 months. You got your money's worth, the public deserve a break from it. Make a new one if you wish to continue to advertise.

Ofcom won't do anything unless there is legislation to follow. Make some legislation please.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

The Government is not directly responsible for advertising. All forms of advertising in the UK are regulated by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), who impose the British Advertising Codes.

You can find out more about the ASA here:

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
