Rejected petition To ban erection of the Palmyra Temple of Baal copy in London.
The Palmyra Bel Temple was central to a culture of nature worship, sexual abandon, & child sacrifice- inconsistent with British values. Celebrating such a monument because others were destroyed is poor reasoning, & disgusts those who know of the temple origins & what the religion stood for.
More details
Bel’s nature religion corrupted ancient Israel & choked Mosaic law & blessings, leaving agricultural/economic misery. Baal nature worship yielded poverty, depopulation & child sacrifice, as fertility was linked with killing children (2 Kings 17) In the North Israel kingdom, what began in freedom, turned into nature mysticism &tyranny (1 Kings 21), coups, Assyrian invasion & exile. Judah ended in child sacrifice & cannibalism in a Babylonian invasion 120 years later (Jeremiah 19)

Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Events in Trafalgar Square are the joint responsibility of the Greater London Authority and Westminster London Borough Council, and require approval by both organisations.
If you are unhappy with their decision to allow the IDA exhibition of a triumphal arch from Palmyra from 19 April in Trafalgar Square, you can petition the London Assembly (https://www.london.gov.uk/about-us/london-assembly/petitions) and Westminster Council (http://petitions.westminster.gov.uk/) about their decision.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
