Early Day Motion 660 "LEGAL RECOGNITION FOR PEOPLE WHO DO NOT ASSOCIATE WITH A PARTICULAR GENDER" proposes allowing UK citizens who do not identify as male or female to use the X marker in place of M or F on passports in accordance with existing aviation treaties.
There are many individuals in the UK and around the world who do not identify as male or female. Bodies are typically male or female, though some cannot be placed in either category through natural variation, and we find the same holds true of minds. The use of the X marker would have no significant impact on bureaucracy and yet would allow those who fall through the gaps of the current system to be represented honestly in their documentation in a way that is accurate to their lived experience.
