Closed All official campaign material for UK elections must be fact checked

We need to stop inaccurate or misleading information in official campaign materiel in elections and referendums (posters, leaflets posted to people, TV broadcasted, etc.). A neutral third party could be used to do this.

During the recent Brexit campaign, both slides used statistics that were widely regarded to be inaccurate - this needs to stop.

In the past we could count on the media to do this, but it appears that we can no longer do this.

We have official statistics and official and impartial organizations who publish statistics and perform fact checking these can be used.
