Closed petition A second referendum to consider the issue of Brexit before Article 50 is invoked

Closed on

The UK Referendum of 24 June 2016 has profound social, economic and political implications. The results reveal the margin is less than 2% and more than 16 million people of voting age want to remain. The 18-50 age group is overwhelmingly remain.

Polling information shows the age group 18-50 (those that have to live with this result the longest) is overwhelmingly pro-remain (68%). Their democratic will should not be ignored.

More than 1 million Brits were excluded from the vote for having lived outside the UK for more than 15 years. Had they been eligible to vote, this is very likely to have returned a different result.

It is appropriate in these circumstances for the UK Parliament to consider convening a second, more open referendum.
