Closed petition Define rights of EU citizens currently living in Britain after leaving the EU

Closed on

There are many EU citizens who have been living and working in Britain for many years, and built lives here

Once Clause 50 is enacted, nothing will definite their status.
However, the British Parliament can define immediately what rights these people have once we are no longer in the EU.

Some EU citizens have lived here for decades, worked, paid taxes, and contributed to the British Economy.
No timeline has been given by Parliament to start, and it can take up to two years to complete
It is unfair to expect tax paying people to endure this period of uncertainty in their lives. This decision does not need to wait for EU negotiations to begin, or await a new prime minister – it can be enacted with immediate effect, as this right will be the responsibility of the British People
