This petition was submitted during the 2015–2017 Conservative government

Rejected petition Disclose any proposed EU deal before invoking Article 50 of Lisbon Treaty.

The ability for the British public to execute their democratic rights to make their position known to either Parliament or the British public based on this new information at least 60 days ahead of any legal acts being enacted is fundamental to the legitimacy of the referendum.

More details

It has come to light in subsequent to the referendum that many of the statements made by both sides of the campaign may have been incorrect and may have unfairly influenced the British public.

As the European Union referendum Act 2015 makes no provision for the referendum result to be legally binding it is critical that the citzens of the UK are kept informed of the implications of their decision before a legally binding act such as repeal of the 1972 European Communites Act or execution of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.
