Closed petition Thinner lenses be free on the NHS for those registered partially sighted/blind
Closed on
I was registered as partially sighted at 16 and blind at 19. My eyesight is constantly deteriorating and at a quicker pace than most. The need for glasses is essential. I now require complex lenses, thinner lenses are essential and they are very costly.
Those with complex lenses do get a voucher but that only equates to approximately £14. One pair of glasses cost me nearly £300.
The buy one get one free offers advertised do not include thinner lenses so if a second pair is required (eg prescription sunglasses which with some conditions light has a major impact) you have to pay twice for the lenses.
I currently have thinner lenses in my latest pair and from the side they are at least 0.75cm thick so would be considerably worse without
