Rejected petition Limit Championship Football clubs to charge a maximum £20 a ticket

Premiership Football clubs have a £30 ticket ceiling, yet Championship clubs can charge what they like. If the championship is a lower league..surely Championship ticket prices should be capped too..at a lower ceiling than Premiership clubs.

More details

Sheffield Wednesday charge £42 entry
Leeds charge £37 entry...or £42 pay on the gate.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

Ticket prices are not the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. They remain the responsibility of each individual football club.

The Barclays Premier League clubs have all voluntarily agreed to cap their away prices this season. The Government has no power to require EFL Championship clubs to do the same, or to require the EFL to impose a cap.

If a petition were submitted calling on the Government to introduce legislation to cap certain ticket prices, it would be considered for approval.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
