This petition was submitted during the 2015–2017 Conservative government

Rejected petition The Olympic parades scheduled on 17th/18th Oct should be moved to a weekend.

Holding such events on weekdays fails to recognise the desire of the general public to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our inspirational Olympians and Para-Olympians. We should be celebrating together with our children not encouraging them to truant.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.

We believe this decision is the responsibility of local councils. If you are in London, the parade is the responsibility of the London Mayor's Office. If you are in Manchester, the parade is organised by Manchester City Council. You can petition either of these councils using the links below:

London Mayor's Office: https://www.london.gov.uk/about-us/london-assembly/petitions

Manchester City Council: http://petitions.manchester.gov.uk/petitions.ti

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
