Rejected petition Change rules on photos of ornamental fish/koi on public/private auction sites
Koi/carp are being sold photographed in a way that causes undue stress (being held) and poses a potential risk of cross contamination from KHV (photographed on mats/nets that may be contaminated) to other ponds.
More details
It should be written into the selling rules that ornamental fish/koi/carp must be photographed in a bowl/tub with water to reduce their stress and risk of passing on disease.
The said bowl/tub should adhere to biosecurity and not have been used or in contact with other ponds/lakes/rivers without thorough decontamination.
KHV is a very destructive problems for koi/carp and koi keepers.
This petition was rejected
Why was this petition rejected?
It’s about something that the UK Government or Parliament is not directly responsible for.
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. There are currently no rules governing how fish are photographed, so the Government cannot change any rules. You could start a new petition asking the Government to introduce a law governing the photography of fish.
We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
