Petition Fly the Union Flag on Government Buildings on Armistice Day
Current recommendations from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport do not require government buildings to fly the Union Flag on Armistice Day, 11th November.
It is recommended for Remembrance Sunday, but the omission of Armistice Day from the list is an oversight that should be corrected.
More details
Armistice Day is 11 November. We pause to observe the Two Minute Silence at 11:00 on this day every year because at the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, World War I ended. During this time, we remember those who have made sacrifices for the freedom we enjoy today.
The British Legion recommends flying the flag on Armistice Day.
