Petition Give all parents adequate support following the sudden death of a child.

Research has found families in Leeds have insufficient support following the sudden death of a child. The bereavement support study, commissioned by Leeds charity Elliot’s Footprint, identified that the current level of support is ineffective, leaving bereaved parents struggling and grieving alone.

More details

• Only 16% of professionals in Leeds think that child bereavement support is currently effective
• 100% of the families who had contacted the counselling service found it unsuitable due to long waiting times or lack of child bereavement experience
• Over 50% of professionals said they did not know who coordinated child bereavement services in Leeds and 45% saw the need for a single organisation to coordinate it
