Rejected petition To set up compulsory cardiac screenings for those who part take in sports.

Quite a few people involved in sport have been having cardiac arrests, and i believe as a nation this should be set up and could save lives.

More details

In March 2012 Fabrice Muamba who was 23 years of age at the time collapsed on the pitch due to having a cardiac arrest.

August 2016 Robin Chard who was raising money for a cancer charity, suffered a cardiac arrest while doing 100-mile course and died.

These are only a few examples listed, but if we had routine cardiac screenings these incidents would have been caught earlier and treatment would have been provided.

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. We're not sure whether you would like cardiac screening to apply only to people playing professional sports or to anyone doing any sport, and whether you would like the screenings to occur every time someone plays sport, or at regular intervals (for example, once a year or once every six months).

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
