Closed petition Ensure the Pfizer and Flynn Pharma CMA fines are used solely to improve NHS care

Closed on

Pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Flynn Pharma have been fined a total of £89.4m by the Competition and Marketing Authority for exploiting a monopoly position over the marketing of the epilepsy drug Epanutin. Their actions have cost the NHS an estimated £44m per year for the last 4 years.

The cost of this scandal has been entirely born by the NHS, and if all the fines are returned to the NHS it will still fall short of the £176m extra the NHS has had to pay for this vital drug. Patients with epilepsy have been most affected, and so some of the money should be used to employ Epilepsy Nurses to improve epilepsy care.
