The USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned hand soaps containing triclosan, after ruling that the antibacterial chemical could contribute to antibiotic resistance. Triclosan and other potentially harmful antibacterial chemicals are widely used in hand washes, deodorants and toothpastes
