Rejected petition Stop a race to the bottom on corporation tax

The Conservative government has suggested that if we do not get sufficient access to the single market when the UK leaves the EU, the UK would be forced to lower corporate tax rates to attract business to Britain. This is not the future we want for our country.

More details

We believe that corporations should pay their fair share of tax to fund the infrastructure and public services we all depend on. We further believe that to achieve this, there must be cooperation between nation states on tax matters.

We deplore any attempt to encourage tax competition and to foster a race to the bottom on corporate tax rates putting at risk the social investment that citizens rely on.

This petition was rejected

Why was this petition rejected?

It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what action you would like the Government or Parliament to take on corporation tax. For example, you could start a petition calling for corporation tax to be set at a specific rate, or maintained at its current rate.

We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.
