Closed Investigate the true scale of female genital mutilation within the UK.

Female genital mutilation is not required by any religion.It is a barbaric ancient cultural practice that exisisted before Islam, Christianity or Judaism.It serves no medical purpose and destroys young girls lives.

Female genital mutilation is illegal in the UK and involvement in its practice can result in prosecution and a 14 year prison sentence.Despite this, thousands of cases are reported by Doctors, Hospitals, and support groups every year in the UK and yet their has not being one successful prosecution.This must be investigated.The UK should be the standard bearer to the rest of the world with a zero tolerance approach and commitment to eradicate its practice.
