Closed petition Allow the people a referendum on the potential abolition of the 'House of Lords'
Closed on
The EU referendum gave the UK electorate the chance to say no to 'unelected' & ‘out of touch with reality’ officialdom in Brussels.
Sadly we have the same ‘unelected’ & ‘out of touch with reality’ membership of a club, numbering around 800, collectively known as the ‘House of Lords’.
At vast annual expense to the tax payer it is believed that he net operating costs of the House of Lords in 2013-4 were £93.1m, this is approximately equivalent to £118k per Peer.
I would strongly recommend that the annual total cost of the House of Lords that would be saved by its abolition, should be given in its entirety to our Local Council Authorities to help towards the increasing costs of providing compassionate care and adequate supervision for our increasingly elderly population.
