Closed Ensure government treats mental and physical health equally on PIP eligibility.

The Department for Work and Pensions has been told by two court rulings to treat mental and physical health claimants equally by ensuring those with psychological health conditions are eligible for Personal Independence Payment.

Psychological conditions such as anxiety incur additional costs of non NHS funded prescription medication for instance Finasteride which helps individuals attain some personal independence. Government rhetoric has insisted those with mental health conditions are treated equally with physical health conditions. While individuals with physical health conditions receive mobility assistance in the form of Personal Independence Payment, those with mental health conditions do not receive this.
